Dr. Allan C. Edson
Educated at Yale, Brigham Young University, and the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Edson has been treating patients for over 35 years.  He began as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Navy, but his experience revealed that he was an especially gifted diagnostician.  As such, he found that even mild sensitivity to allergens can adversely effect a patient’s overall sense of well-being.  Once he embarked down the path of becoming an Allergist, he quickly excelled in his field, earning the prestigious Fellowship awards in both the American Osteopathic College of Allergy and Immunology as well as the American Osteopathic  College of Family Practitioners.  He has served for 8 years as the president of the American Osteopathic College of Allergy and Immunology, and in 2004, Dr. Edson was appointed Head of the Utah State Licensing Board for Osteopathic Medicine.  His training, experience and philosophy as an osteopathic physician has contributed to his feeling that his duty to a patient extends beyond just solving the medical problem that is presenting itself.  Dr. Edson feels the most fulfilled when he is helping his patients feel as healthy and happy as possible, which is why when you meet Dr. Edson, he will surely greet you with his renowned friendly smile, making you feel like you just made the best choice possible for your health care.

Allergy Facts

The word “Allergy” was coined in 1906, but allergies remained a mysterious ailment with no effective treatment until the 1960’s. It was then that Teruka and Kimishige Ishizaka discovered and classified a disorder which they called “Immunoglobin E,” which caused an improper reaction in the body’s immune system to harmless entities. Based on their work, and through years of continued research, doctors have found how to identify and suppress most allergic reactions through simple, harmless treatments.
